NAME
Chipp Zanuff

AGE
19

BIRTHDATE
February 9

FACTION
Neutral, although he once belonged to The Sphere as a soldier.

ABILITIES
Chipp, while being 100% human, has been genetically experimented on. Not a whole lot, but enough to give him incredible speed. (and by incredible, I do mean walking to Chipp is like running to most people and running to Chipp is like sticking a video on fastforward.) The rest of his skills were taught to him by his master, Tsuyoshi, so Chipp is very proficient in the application of Ninjutsu.

... This basically means he can do all the nifty ninja things like hand-to-hand combat, quick disappearances and reappearances. stealth tactics and flips and dodges and hey-- did I mention he also fights with a curved blade on his arm? Fighting this guy is like taking on a whirlwind-- a whirlwind that won't shut up.

PERSONALITY
Chipp Zanuff is a steadfast young man who has overcome the crippling power of narcotics and gone on to embrace a lifestyle he had never known as a child, living life as best he could and challenging those who would thwart him.

... In simpler terms, Chipp Zanuff is a slightly spastic ninja who refuses to admit he's American rather than Japanese (and will sometimes blurt out random bits of Japanese to show just how Japanese he is-- and it'll be stuff like "Sukiyaki!"), is prone to uttering "Holy Zen!" during moments of great surprise, and who simply DOES NOT THINK before he enters a confrontation.

Like all people, Chipp has his good points and his not-so-good points. His good points? He's energetic, his heart's in the right place, and he always repays his debts. If you help Chipp out some point, rest assured he'll find some way to make it up to you. He's a very straightforward guy-- what you see is what you get with him. The not-so-good points? Well. For starters, he has a quick temper (he's working on that, really), and he's even quicker to react to a perceived threat or insult, whether it's actual or not. He's just a bit paranoid and will jump to conclusions without ever stopping to go over his facts, thus entering situations where he has the completely wrong idea about what's going on. He has no respect for authority, he's brash and crude, he has a special fondness for sleeping pills and at times he can be single-minded. But don't be scared off; if you manage to get Chipp on your side, he'll be your friend for life.
»» I think you know that NOW
Chipp was born to American parents who had always held a strong interest in Japanese culture and who had moved there some time ago in order to better study it. Of course, there was a war going on, and Chipp was only six years old when the explosion happened that left him an orphan and utterly on his own.

Except not, because The Sphere took him in, and started working on making him into the perfect little soldier. The drugs they put into his system upped his speed capabilities, but such things do take their toll. Chipp eventually became addicted to the drugs and, as he grew older, got his hands on some of them and started trafficking them to other soldiers. He himself was particularly fond of narcotics, as they were the only calming influence he had in a world torn by war. The Sphere soon caught on to what he was doing and arranged to have him taken care of-- which is a very nice euphemism for "they tried to kill him dead". Chipp was very nearly killed in the confrontation, but was saved by an older soldier who went by the name Tsuyoshi. Having seen potential in the fourteen-year-old, Tsuyoshi took him under his wing, teaching him everything he knew about Ninjutsu and giving Chipp a strange kind of peace he hadn't been able to gain without the use of drugs.

He had been given a second chance at life and he took it wholeheartedly, spending most of his time during the war training with his master and fighting only when necessary. Any acceptance of an American heritage that he might have had at one point was quickly discarded and Chipp came to view himself as solely Japanese, due mostly to his life with Tsuyoshi.

But Tsuyoshi was killed one day and Chipp was once again left alone in the world. He swore to avenge his fallen mentor, despite Tsuyoshi's final wish that his student move on with his life. He swore to find who had taken the man's life. He swore to make them pay. ... Hell, he just swore.

Unfortunately for Chipp, swearing couldn't stand against a pulse wave and he fell victim to a coma for one very long year. But fear not! Not even extended naps could keep this ninja down for too long!
